LPG litre to kg converter: convert liquid LPG volume to weight
Enter litres or kilograms of LPG and pick a blend to see the other value. The density is an approximation and you can enter your own.
Convert LPG litres to kg and back
10.00 litres of LPG is about
5.40 kg
At a density of 0.54 kg/L. At the OGRA rate of Rs 279.34/kg that is about Rs 151 per litre of gas, and 5.40 kg of gas costs about Rs 1,508 (gas only).
Estimate only. LPG is sold by weight in Pakistan, so use kg when you compare prices. Litre figures change with the propane-butane ratio and temperature. Never fill a cylinder yourself; cylinders are filled below full to leave room for the gas to expand.
Estimate only
Results are rough planning figures from the numbers you enter and the assumptions shown. They are not a quote, a measurement, an engineering design or a safety check. For a written price send a request; the gas rate follows the OGRA notification (confirm the month on file when you order) and delivery and cylinder terms are confirmed before you agree.
The formula
Kilograms = litres x density (kg per litre). Litres = kilograms / density. The calculator uses the density you select.
| Cylinder (gas) | Liquid volume at 0.54 kg/L |
|---|---|
| 5 kg | about 9.3 litres |
| 11.8 kg | about 21.9 litres |
| 15 kg | about 27.8 litres |
| 45.4 kg | about 84.1 litres |
What to keep in mind
- Liquid volume is not the same as the cylinder size: cylinders are not filled to the brim
- Density changes with temperature and with the propane-butane ratio
- Compare prices per kg, not per litre, unless the seller states the density used
- Do not try to measure or refill a cylinder yourself

Frequently asked questions
How many kg is one litre of LPG?
About 0.51 kg for liquid propane and 0.58 kg for liquid butane at around 15 C. A propane-butane mix sits in between. Use the density that matches your supplier's blend if you know it.
Why is LPG sold in kg and not litres in Pakistan?
Weight does not change with temperature, while volume does. Cylinders and the OGRA notified price are quoted per kg, so compare prices per kg.
How many litres are in an 11.8 kg cylinder?
At a density of 0.54 kg/L the gas is about 21.9 litres of liquid. The cylinder is bigger than that because it is not filled to the top; space is left for expansion.
Is this accurate for my cylinder?
No. It is a planning conversion. Your blend and the temperature change the density.
Can I use litres to compare cylinder prices?
Prefer kg. The OGRA consumer price and cylinder sizes in Pakistan are quoted by gas weight. Convert litres only when a seller states volume and the density used.
